Off to Warsaw
The road trip postponed since 2020 finally kicks off. After a morning storm, 750 km to the Polish capital.

After a night of heavy rain, we rolled out at half past eight on the road trip we’d first planned for 2020. Finally.
The first 750 km are behind us. Pouring rain at first, then clear sailing — the roads were wonderfully empty, the only slow stretches being the tunnel near Prague and central Warsaw around the hotel.
Polish motorways remain a mystery to me. We kept looking for the toll gates everyone warned us about and never found any — so, gratis, apparently. Instead, Poland offers special “immersive” stretches marked uneven surface — our own D1 can only dream of that kind of bouncing.
Warsaw was a pleasant surprise: a beautiful historic centre, great atmosphere around the fountain (someone was giving an open-air concert). And although there must have been a million people out, it was surprisingly pleasant.
We finished in a random restaurant that did a pancake-meets-Asian-cuisine fusion. Kubík declared that he absolutely has to come back here one day (clear priorities on holiday). They even had their own kombucha.
